Why I don’t use generative AI except under controlled circumstances.

I study generative and agentic AI and I refuse to use it outside of controlled environments. The most charitable reason is my work requires “crafting” vs. “growing.” Every piece of work I do has to be done to exacting specifications, as part of an overall design, intended to fit together and function for a given purpose. And if it fails. That error is on my team or me. Growing a piece of work? You can shape, nudge, and guide it. But you are not the doer in the process of creating and cannot guarantee what is happening underneath the hood of those prompts. There are valid cases for growing over crafting, child rearing, mentoring etc. But I do not feel my work is one of them.
